As one takes a look towards the water's edge they spot a lone song sparrow. Timid, docile, fearful, fearless, restless, solemn, boisterous and all encapsulated in a fine feathered package galavanting from driftwood to driftwood in search of its daily sustenance. There's something different with this bird, his soul is heavy. He didn't frolic like the rest of them, he moved in a casual manner with a determined and solid stance. The early morning winds skimmed across the cold waters of the northern lake. It would be morning before long, the people would be gathering on the beaches soon and what was once a tranquil environment would rattle with the clang of humanity. As of yet, the peace still held fast over the lake waters and the sparrow began to move systematically from driftwood branch to driftwood branch. The sparrow gleaned a small insect off of a branch and quickly made work of it. The sunrise began to gently creep up over the horizon, set by the nearby mountains, and illuminate the lakefront. As the young song sparrow hopped and flapped its feathers the glowing radiance of the sun reflected off of the cascading rufous and grey plummage. It was a certainty that the day offered promising events to the young avian friend. Nature was joyful!
